3 Lessons From IT Nation
We recently made a trip to Orlando, Florida to attend IT Nation, one of the largest technology solutions conferences in the world. Over 3,000 attendees experienced presentations from a variety of expert speakers, high-impact networking receptions and 100+ breakout sessions that focused on product training and innovation.
Our team gained incredible insight about topics including security, client service and company culture. Here are three highlights:
- 91% of successful data breaches began with a spear-phishing attack. Spear phishing is a highly targeted email fraud that hackers use to obtain trade secrets, passwords, financial data, etc. We encourage clients to actively make employees aware of this potential threat, implement email-validation systems and always verify the legitimacy of information forms. In addition to these measures, we suggest that clients use ioto test susceptibility to an attack. The platform is a phishing simulator that can send fake spear-phishing emails to assess how vulnerable someone is to the scam. Send one to your employees – if they fall for the trick, they’re likely to open a truly harmful email that puts your data at risk.
- Agile management methodology helps streamline workflow. Agile is a client service and management practice that emphasizes interaction, client collaboration and a responsive approach to change. It promotes team success over individual success, like we do at Concept Technology Inc. When you hire our company, you don’t get an IT service guy, you get an IT service team.
- People matter above all else. One of the highlights of the conference was a keynote speech by Marcus Lemonis. You may know him from CNBC’s “The Profit,” a show in which he overhauls companies by using a “People – Process – Product” principle. In his presentation, Lemonis said, “I really do believe that people are the cornerstone of everything that we do and truly make up who we are, why we do what we do and how it works.” We agree. At Concept Technology, our core values are people-driven, like 1) Always act in the best interest of the client, and 2) Make life great for team members and their families.
By attending IT Nation and learning about new industry trends, we can continue to be a trusted resource for our clients regarding what technology is new, efficient, and effective for their businesses. Thanks to ConnectWise for hosting the event – we look forward to seeing you next year!
