Karen Nixon leads our service delivery operations teams to streamline efficiencies, ensure profitability, and enhance our customer’s experience.
So, let’s start from the beginning. Where are you from originally?
I was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. In 1995 I moved to Nashville, Tennessee to relocate for a job–Columbia Healthcare’s merger with HCA–and I’ve been here ever since.
You’ve worked almost 20 years in the Information Technology industry and clearly have a passion for it. What would you say excites you most?
I know its cliché, but this industry never stops changing so it’s a continual challenge to stay knowledgeable and evolve with the technology in order to meet business goals and desired outcomes. I love a challenge…I love designing…and I love solving problems!
Speaking of challenges, the recent global pandemic posed quite a few for all of us. What’s one good habit you developed during the pandemic that you plan on keeping around in the future?
Listening to more music while I work. It gets me pumped and motivated in the mornings when I need it most, and I’ve found that it energizes the creative side of my brain.
Couldn’t agree more. On that musical note, what’s your favorite song or playlist that motivates you?
I don’t have a favorite song or playlist, but Rock bands including classic, hard rock, metal, and alternative, throughout the decades are my favorite genres. Everything from Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) to Three Doors Down, to Creed definitely gets me going.
Very nice. What’s your favorite spot in Nashville to hang out when you’re not working or listening to music?
Believe it or not, my favorite spot is my screened back deck of my home. I live in a rural area and love to sit on my swing and watch what is happening in the backyard and woods around me while staying connected to my family.
Where is your favorite vacation or weekend getaway?
Florida gulf coast beaches, without a doubt. I love the sand, surf, and sun–good for the soul and keeps me grounded!
What are you looking forward to most working at Concept Technology?
What I love most right now is the culture, the team’s enthusiasm, and the focus on doing the right things. I’m really looking forward to working with this awesome team to become the “best-in-class” managed service provider we can be, delivering exceptional technical support and consultative services with zero customer churn. It’s all very exciting.
Of course we have to know, what’s a recent piece of technology that’s changed your life?
Oddly enough, I don’t engage in social media nor do I invest in a lot of tech gadgets–especially not smart devices. I don’t clutter my life with many things. What aids me most in life is to remember how blessed I am and to simply stay grounded and present in the moment.
Well put, Karen. Thank you for sharing!
