3 Ways You Can Meet the IT Needs of Your Growing Company

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Growing a business is no small task. Increasing revenue and expanding staff can present a whole host of challenges. As an stakeholder, you need to consider how to upgrade company resources to handle the increased demands from additional clients and employees.

A key component of handling growth is scaling your IT resources. Here are three ways that Concept Technology Inc. has helped growing businesses accomplish just that, which you can take into consideration for your business:

1) Application management. In one case, a company only installed crucial business applications on the computers of employees who required those programs, instead of putting them all on a centralized server. When individual workstations got bogged down, the company would purchase a new computer for everyday use, and leave the old one connected for employees to access applications when necessary.

The result? Crucial business applications (and the accompanying data) were being stored on dying hardware, without any backup procedures in place. Concept Technology solved the problem by setting up a terminal server with a centralized backup. By configuring secure, remote access to the server, we established a single workflow for employees to access these critical applications.

2) IT governance. As companies grow, it can be easy to overlook IT governance (how IT strategy aligns with business strategy) as well as ways to measure IT performance.

Concept Technology helps address these issues by setting up single sign-on (SSO), establishing procedures for employee termination, implementing backup solutions, auditing access to critical data, planning for unexpected outages and performing security tests, among other functions.

3) Email services. Properly managing email services is another major IT issue for growing companies. In one situation, Concept Technology took a business from a Post Office Protocol (POP3)/Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) email service to ConceptCloud Enterprise Email, a hosted Exchange solution.

IT procedures that are also built to scale should be a key component in any company’s growth strategy. Transitioning to centrally managed IT solutions ensures that your IT strategy will grow alongside your company. IT mishaps always result in downtime and lost revenue. And, though making these changes may seem a big expense for a small business, the long-term benefits will most certainly outweigh the initial cost.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
